Pedro received a Bachelor’s degree in Language and Translation Portuguese-English from the University of Brasília, and a Master’s in Translation English-Spanish from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile.

He interprets between English, Spanish and Portuguese, and translates from English and Spanish to Portuguese.

Pedro has lived, studied and worked in Brazil, Bolivia and Chile, which allowed him to become fluent in his three working languages and build a successful career in the South American language market.

He has over 4000 hours of interpretation experience in different fields, from high-level international conferences to closed-door meetings and technical visits. As a translator, he has worked in areas such as politics, management, mining, agriculture, economics and environment, with a special emphasis on technical reports, training material, science outreach articles and corporate communication. He has also translated several academic papers from the fields of social sciences, art and music.

Besides his professional practice, Pedro has developed research on technology and artificial intelligence applied in translation and currently trains translators and interpreters at the Universidad de Santiago de Chile (USACH). Due to his academic work, he has also been invited to give talks at linguistics conferences in Chile as well as at the ABRATES Congress in 2015.

Ney Fernandes

Ney holds a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Foreign Languages from the Sorbonne Nouvelle University in Paris, as well as a Master’s in Media-Based, Economic and Technical Translation from the École Supérieure d’Interprétes et de Traducteurs (ESIT) in Paris.

With over 15 years of experience, Ney works as a translator from French, English, Portuguese and Italian to Spanish, and as a copy editor and proofreader in Spanish.

He cultivated his interest in language and communication throughout his childhood, during which he experienced a true multicultural immersion having lived in Uruguay, Italy, Brazil and Chile, all the while going to French primary and secondary schools. As a result, Ney is able to speak fluent Spanish, Portuguese and French, and has an excellent command of Italian and English.

He began his career as a translator at a financial news agency in Santiago, then later worked at the Facultad Latinoamericana de Ciencias Sociales (FLACSO) as a coordinator of research grants, webmaster, APA format editor and layout designer. These responsibilities allowed him to hone his skills and knowledge on formatting and style guides.

In 2012, he went on his own, and since then has translated and edited numerous institutional and academic publications. His areas of expertise are marketing, economics, mining, and radio astronomy.
